What is Stress? and how it influences our body functions and develops long term illness? The biology of potential illnesses rises early in life. Our brain is programmed to respond to experiences, be both positive and traumatic, unconscious memories developed in early infancy guides us through those attitudes and behaviors towards ourselves and the outer world.
Cancer, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and other conditions are the culmination of a lifelong processes of abuse and trauma. Parallel to those, stress related illness also developed within those individuals who have suffered, not because being subjected to a negative experience, but because positive interactions were withheld.
Our psychological being responds to positive stimulus from the environment and those around us. Parental love is not only a pleasant experience is a biological condition essential to our psychological and physiological wellbeing, and emotional system.
The parent - child interaction whereby love, and acceptance is present, or neglect, indifference, and hostility are permanent it shapes those future relationships in later stages of the child life. The long-term disruption of attachment-based interaction in infancy and childhood will impact on long term consequences for the brain's stress response, and the immune system leading to physiological and behavioral outcomes, often without conscious awareness.
